Water Pollution

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater) usually as a result of human activities. Polluted water can have harmful effects on aquatic life, as well as on human health. Sources of water pollution include agricultural activities, industrial discharges, sewage treatment plants, oil spills, and littering. The effects of water pollution can be devastating, including the death of aquatic plants and animals, the spread of waterborne diseases, and the destruction of ecosystems. Prevention and control of water pollution require the implementation of effective policies and regulations, as well as the adoption of sustainable practices in various sectors.
