Anchorage
Anchorage is a designated area in a water body where ships and boats can safely anchor. It is a place where vessels can drop their anchors and remain stationary to wait out bad weather, perform maintenance, or load and unload cargo. Anchorage areas are typically marked on nautical charts and can be found in harbors, bays, and other sheltered areas. The suitability of an anchorage depends on factors such as water depth, bottom type, and protection from wind and waves. Vessels must take care not to damage the seabed or other vessels when anchoring. In some cases, a fee may be charged for using an anchorage.
