Aurora Borealis

Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, is a natural light display that occurs in the polar regions. It is caused by the collision of charged particles from the sun with atoms in the Earth's atmosphere. The resulting ionization and excitation of atmospheric constituents emit light of varying colors, typically green, pink, and purple. The phenomenon is visible from late September to early April in the Northern Hemisphere and is best seen in areas with clear, dark skies away from light pollution. The Aurora Borealis has been a source of fascination and inspiration for centuries, and has also been used for navigation by mariners in the polar regions.
