Measures


Measures refer to the actions taken by a ship to ensure its safety and the safety of its crew, cargo, and passengers. These actions include but are not limited to: navigation, communication, maintenance, and emergency procedures. Navigation measures involve the use of charts, instruments, and technology to ensure the ship is on course and avoiding hazards. Communication measures involve the use of radios and other devices to stay in contact with other ships and shore-based facilities. Maintenance measures involve regular inspections and repairs to ensure the ship is in good working order. Emergency procedures involve drills and plans to respond to accidents, fires, and other emergencies that may arise at sea.
