Bail
Bail is the process of removing water from a vessel, typically using a pump or a bucket, in order to prevent it from sinking or capsizing. This is often necessary in emergency situations such as when a vessel is taking on water due to a leak or damage. Bail can also refer to the amount of money or property that is deposited as a guarantee that a person accused of a crime will appear in court for trial. In maritime law, bail can refer to the release of a vessel or cargo that has been seized by authorities pending the outcome of a legal dispute.
