Bearing
In maritime context, bearing refers to the horizontal direction of one object in relation to another object or to a fixed point on the earth's surface. It is usually measured in degrees clockwise from true north. Bearings are used in navigation to determine the direction of a ship or other vessel in relation to a fixed point, such as a lighthouse or a navigational beacon. Bearings can also be used to determine the relative position of two or more vessels in relation to each other. In addition, bearings are used in the design and construction of ships and other maritime structures to ensure that they are properly aligned and oriented.
