Breaker
In maritime context, a breaker refers to a wave that has become so steep that the crest of the wave topples forward, moving faster than the main body of the wave. This results in the wave cresting and breaking into white water. Breakers can be caused by wind, currents, or the interaction of waves with the seabed. They can be dangerous to ships, especially if they occur close to shore or in shallow waters. Breakers can also be a popular spot for surfers to ride the waves.
