Certificate

A certificate is a document that attests to the fact that a person has completed a course of study or has passed an examination. In the maritime context, certificates are issued to seafarers who have completed training and have demonstrated competence in specific areas such as firefighting, first aid, navigation, and cargo handling. These certificates are required by international regulations and are necessary for seafarers to work on board ships. Certificates are also issued to ships to attest to their compliance with international regulations and standards. These certificates include the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, and the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) certificate.
