Circuit Breakers

Circuit breakers are automatic electrical switches designed to protect electrical circuits from damage caused by overload or short circuit. In the maritime context, circuit breakers are an essential component of the ship's electrical system, providing protection against electrical faults that could cause fires or damage to equipment. They are installed in the main switchboard and distribution panels, and are designed to trip and disconnect the power supply when an overload or short circuit occurs. Circuit breakers are available in different sizes and ratings, depending on the electrical load they are designed to protect. Regular maintenance and testing of circuit breakers is necessary to ensure their proper functioning in case of an electrical fault.
