Safety Hazards

Safety hazards refer to any potential danger or risk that could cause harm or injury to personnel, damage to equipment or the environment. In the maritime context, safety hazards can include but are not limited to: slippery decks, heavy weather, fire, explosion, collision, grounding, piracy, and terrorism. It is the responsibility of the ship's crew and management to identify, assess, and mitigate safety hazards to ensure the safety of all personnel and the protection of the environment. Safety hazards can be managed through the implementation of safety management systems, training, drills, and the use of appropriate safety equipment and procedures.
