Coils

Coils refer to a type of cargo that is transported by ships. These are typically long, heavy and cylindrical shaped metal products such as steel, aluminum, copper, etc. that are rolled into a coil form. Coils are usually transported in specialized vessels that are equipped with special cargo handling equipment such as cranes, coil racks, and other devices that are designed to secure and protect the cargo during transportation. The handling and stowage of coils require special attention to ensure that they are properly secured and balanced to prevent shifting or rolling during the voyage, which can cause damage to the ship or other cargo. Coils are commonly used in various industries such as construction, automotive, and manufacturing.
