Deep Foundation

Deep foundation is a type of foundation that is used to transfer heavy loads of a structure to the underlying soil or rock when the shallow soils are not strong enough to support the structure. In the maritime context, deep foundation is used to support offshore structures such as oil platforms, wind turbines, and bridges. The most common types of deep foundation used in the maritime industry are drilled shafts, driven piles, and suction caissons. These foundations are designed to withstand the harsh marine environment, including strong currents, waves, and corrosion. The installation of deep foundation requires specialized equipment and expertise, and it is a critical component of the construction of offshore structures.
