Dipstick

In maritime context, a dipstick is a long, thin and graduated rod used to measure the level of liquid in a tank. Dipsticks are commonly used to measure the fuel level in a ship's fuel tank. The dipstick is inserted into the tank until it reaches the bottom, and then it is slowly removed. The level of the liquid is determined by the point at which the liquid appears on the graduated rod. Dipsticks are important tools for ensuring that the ship has enough fuel to complete its journey safely and efficiently.
