Distress Calls

Distress calls are urgent messages sent by a vessel or aircraft indicating that it is in immediate danger and requires immediate assistance. These calls are made using standardized procedures and frequencies, and are typically transmitted via radio or other communication devices. Distress calls may include information such as the vessel's name, position, nature of distress, and number of people on board. It is the duty of all vessels and aircraft in the vicinity to respond to distress calls and provide assistance as necessary, in accordance with international maritime law and conventions.
