Docking

Docking is the process of bringing a vessel alongside a pier or quay so that it can be loaded or unloaded, refueled, repaired, or boarded. It requires careful maneuvering and control of the vessel's speed and direction to ensure a safe and efficient approach. Docking can be affected by various factors such as wind, current, tide, and the size and shape of the vessel. The crew must be well-trained and coordinated to handle the lines and fenders that secure the vessel to the dock. Improper docking can result in damage to the vessel, the dock, or other nearby vessels, and can pose a risk to the safety of the crew and passengers.
