Draft(or Draught)

Draft (or draught) is the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of the hull (keel) of a ship. It is the depth of water needed to float the ship. The draft of a ship can vary depending on the weight of the cargo, fuel, and supplies on board. The draft is an important consideration for ships entering and leaving ports, as it determines the depth of water required for safe navigation. The maximum draft of a ship is limited by the depth of the water in which it is sailing, as well as any height restrictions such as bridges or overhead power lines.
