Dynamic Positioning System

A Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) is an advanced technology used in ships and offshore vessels to maintain their position and heading automatically without the need for anchors. It is a computer-controlled system that uses a combination of sensors, thrusters, and algorithms to keep the vessel in a fixed position or follow a predetermined track. The system takes into account the vessel's position, speed, wind, and current to calculate the required thrust and direction of the thrusters. DPS is particularly useful in offshore operations such as drilling, subsea construction, and surveying, where precise positioning is critical for safety and efficiency.
