EPIRB

An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is a distress beacon used in maritime emergencies to alert search and rescue services. When activated, the EPIRB sends a distress signal via satellite to a rescue coordination center, which can then initiate a search and rescue operation. EPIRBs are required on all commercial vessels and are strongly recommended for all recreational vessels. They are designed to operate in harsh marine environments and can be manually or automatically activated. EPIRBs are an essential safety device for anyone operating a vessel at sea.
