FHEX

FHEX (Floating Helix Extraction) is a method of offloading crude oil from a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel to a shuttle tanker. The FHEX system consists of a flexible hose with a helix structure that is connected to the FPSO and the shuttle tanker. The hose is deployed from the FPSO and the helix structure keeps it suspended in the water column, allowing it to follow the movements of the two vessels. The crude oil is then pumped through the hose and into the shuttle tanker. FHEX is a safe and efficient method of offloading crude oil in offshore locations where traditional methods such as fixed pipelines or loading buoys are not feasible.
