Fin Stabilizers

Fin stabilizers are devices attached to the hull of a ship to reduce its roll motion. They work by creating hydrodynamic forces that counteract the rolling motion of the ship. The fins are typically located on the port and starboard sides of the vessel, and can be retractable or fixed. Retractable fins are often used on ships that operate in both shallow and deep waters, as they can be retracted when the ship is in shallow water to prevent damage. Fin stabilizers are commonly used on large ships such as cruise ships, cargo ships, and naval vessels to improve passenger comfort and safety, and to reduce the risk of cargo damage.
