Rolling Motion

Rolling motion is a type of ship motion that occurs when a vessel rotates about its longitudinal axis from side to side. This motion is caused by the forces acting on the ship, such as waves, wind, and currents. Rolling motion can be dangerous and uncomfortable for passengers and crew, and can also cause cargo to shift or even capsize the vessel. The degree of rolling motion depends on the ship's design, size, and weight distribution, as well as the sea conditions. To reduce rolling motion, ships can use stabilizers, which are fins or gyroscopes that counteract the forces causing the motion.
