Freestyle
Freestyle is a swimming event in which the swimmer is free to choose any stroke. In competitive swimming, freestyle is often used as a synonym for front crawl, which is the fastest and most efficient stroke. However, swimmers can also use other strokes such as breaststroke, backstroke, or butterfly in freestyle events. The freestyle stroke is characterized by a continuous alternating arm movement and a flutter kick. Freestyle events are held in various distances ranging from 50 meters to 1500 meters in Olympic competitions. Freestyle is also a term used in other water sports such as surfing, where it refers to a style of riding waves without any predetermined movements or restrictions.
