Galvanizing

Galvanizing is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, in order to prevent rusting. In the maritime context, galvanizing is commonly used to protect metal components of ships and boats from corrosion caused by exposure to saltwater. This process involves immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc, which forms a metallurgical bond with the surface of the metal. The resulting coating is highly resistant to corrosion and can last for many years, even in harsh marine environments.
