Gills

Gills are respiratory organs found in fish and other aquatic animals that extract dissolved oxygen from water and excrete carbon dioxide. They are made up of thin, feathery filaments that are rich in blood vessels and are located on either side of the fish's head. As water flows over the gills, oxygen is absorbed into the bloodstream and carbon dioxide is released. Gills are essential for the survival of fish and other aquatic animals, as they allow them to extract oxygen from their watery environment.
