Grapnel

A grapnel is a type of anchor that is designed to hook onto a surface, such as a rock or a coral reef, in order to secure a vessel in place. It consists of multiple hooks or claws that are attached to a central shank, which is connected to a rope or chain. Grapnels are commonly used by small boats, such as fishing boats or dinghies, to anchor in shallow waters where traditional anchors may not be effective. They are also used in rescue operations to retrieve objects or people from the water. However, grapnels are not suitable for use in deep waters or in strong currents, as they may not provide enough holding power.
