Heave Away

Heave Away is a nautical term used to give the command to the crew to start pulling on a rope or a line in order to hoist a sail, anchor or any other heavy object. The command is usually given by the officer in charge or the boatswain. The crew then pulls the rope or line in a coordinated manner, using their body weight and strength to lift the object. The command is also used to start the process of weighing anchor, which involves pulling the anchor up from the seabed and hoisting it onto the ship. Heave Away is an important command in maritime operations and requires the crew to work together in a synchronized manner to achieve the desired result.
