Isherwood System
The Isherwood System is a method of ship construction developed by British naval architect John Isherwood in the early 20th century. It involves the use of longitudinal framing, where the ship's hull is reinforced by a series of long, continuous frames running the length of the vessel. This method provides greater strength and rigidity to the hull, allowing for larger and more complex ships to be built. The Isherwood System was widely adopted by the British Royal Navy and other navies around the world, and was used in the construction of many famous warships, including the HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales.
