Kevel (caval)
A kevel (also known as caval) is a wooden or metal beam that is used to secure a ship's anchor cable. It is typically located on the ship's bow and is used to guide the cable as the anchor is raised or lowered. The kevel is also used to secure the anchor cable when the ship is at anchor, preventing it from slipping or becoming tangled. Kevels are an important part of a ship's anchoring system and are designed to withstand the heavy loads placed on them by the anchor cable.
