Limits

In maritime context, limits refer to the geographical boundaries within which a vessel can operate safely. These limits are determined by various factors such as the vessel's size, draft, speed, maneuverability, and the prevailing weather and sea conditions. The limits can be defined by international regulations, such as the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), or by national authorities. Vessels must operate within their designated limits to ensure the safety of the crew, passengers, and cargo, as well as to prevent damage to the environment. Failure to comply with the limits can result in penalties, fines, or even criminal charges.
