Maroon

Maroon is a term used to describe a person who has been abandoned or left behind on an island or coast with limited resources and no means of escape. In maritime context, marooning was a form of punishment used by sailors and pirates to discipline crew members who committed serious offenses. The marooned person would be left on a deserted island or coast with limited food, water, and shelter, and was expected to survive on their own. Marooning was a harsh punishment and often resulted in death. However, in some cases, marooned individuals were able to survive and even thrive in their new environment, developing unique skills and adapting to their surroundings.
