MARPOL

MARPOL stands for the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships. It is a treaty developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to prevent marine pollution caused by ships. The convention includes regulations for the prevention of pollution from oil, chemicals, harmful substances in packaged form, sewage, garbage, and air pollution. It also includes requirements for the design, construction, and operation of ships, as well as procedures for the handling of pollutants in case of accidents. MARPOL is one of the most important international marine environmental conventions and is widely adopted by the international shipping industry.
