Ocean Currents
Ocean currents are the continuous, directed movement of ocean water generated by a variety of forces such as wind, temperature, salinity differences, and the Earth's rotation. These currents can be classified into two types: surface currents and deep water currents. Surface currents are driven by wind and are located in the upper 400 meters of the ocean, while deep water currents are driven by differences in water density and are located below the surface currents. Ocean currents play a crucial role in regulating the Earth's climate by transporting heat from the equator to the poles and distributing nutrients and organisms throughout the ocean.
