Officer Of The Watch

Officer of the Watch (OOW) is a licensed officer on a ship who is in charge of the vessel's safe navigation and operation while on duty. The OOW is responsible for ensuring that the ship follows its planned course, avoids collisions with other vessels, and complies with all applicable maritime regulations. They must maintain a constant lookout, monitor the ship's position and movement, and communicate with other crew members and the ship's captain as needed. The OOW must also be prepared to take immediate action in the event of an emergency, such as a collision or grounding. The OOW is a critical position on any ship, and their actions can have a significant impact on the safety of the vessel and its crew.
