Person Overboard

Person Overboard (POB) is a term used in the maritime industry to describe a situation where a person has fallen off a vessel and is in the water. This is a serious emergency situation that requires immediate action to be taken by the crew of the vessel. The first step is to sound the alarm and alert the crew to the situation. The vessel should then be turned around and a search and rescue operation should be initiated. The crew should also throw lifebuoys and other flotation devices to the person in the water to keep them afloat until they can be rescued. It is important for all crew members to be trained in POB procedures to ensure a quick and effective response in the event of an emergency.
