Piers

Piers are structures built perpendicular to the shore and extending over water, used as a landing place for vessels loading or unloading passengers or cargo. They are typically made of wood, concrete, or steel and can vary in size and shape depending on the needs of the port. Piers can be used for a variety of purposes, including commercial shipping, fishing, and recreational boating. They are often equipped with cranes, hoists, and other equipment to facilitate loading and unloading of cargo. Piers can also serve as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for passengers on cruise ships and ferries.
