Poop Deck

The poop deck is the highest deck at the stern of a ship, usually above the captain's quarters. Historically, it was the location where the ship's wheel was located and where the ship's colors were hoisted. The poop deck was also used as a platform for observation during battle and navigation. In modern times, the poop deck is primarily used for ceremonial purposes and as a location for navigation equipment. It is often the location of the ship's flagstaff and is sometimes used as a platform for entertainment or relaxation for the ship's officers. The name 'poop' is derived from the French word 'la poupe', meaning stern or rear of a ship.
