Predators

In maritime context, predators refer to pirate vessels or armed robbers who attack and hijack other ships in order to steal their cargo or demand ransom for the release of the crew. These predators often operate in areas with weak maritime security and are a significant threat to the safety and security of seafarers and the global economy. The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) maintains a Piracy Reporting Centre to monitor and report on piracy and armed robbery incidents worldwide, and to provide assistance to ships in distress. The IMB also works with governments and maritime organizations to develop strategies to combat piracy and protect seafarers.
