Robbery
Robbery is the act of taking or attempting to take something of value by force or threat of force. In maritime context, robbery can occur on board a ship while it is underway or at anchor. Robbery at sea is a serious concern for the shipping industry, particularly in areas with high piracy rates. Pirates and armed robbers may use weapons and violence to intimidate crew members and steal valuable cargo. The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) maintains a piracy reporting center to track incidents of robbery and piracy at sea.
