Ribbanding

Ribbanding is a process of securing a vessel to a slipway or a dry dock by using a series of heavy ropes or chains called ribbands. These ribbands are passed under the hull of the vessel and secured to the slipway or dry dock to prevent the vessel from moving during maintenance or repair work. The process of ribbanding is crucial to ensure the safety of the vessel and the workers involved in the maintenance work. It requires careful planning and execution to ensure that the vessel is properly secured and balanced on the slipway or dry dock.
