Salvage Rights

Salvage rights refer to the legal right of a salvor to claim a reward for saving a vessel or its cargo from danger at sea. The salvor is entitled to a percentage of the total value of the property saved, which is determined by a court of law. Salvage rights can be claimed by anyone who provides voluntary assistance in rescuing a vessel or its cargo, and can include services such as towing, refloating, or repairing a damaged vessel. The right to claim salvage is recognized under international maritime law, and is intended to encourage mariners to assist vessels in distress without fear of financial loss.
