Seismometers

Seismometers are instruments used to measure and record seismic waves caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other seismic sources. In the maritime context, seismometers are used to monitor and study the seismic activity of the ocean floor. This is important for understanding the tectonic activity and the formation of underwater geological features such as mid-ocean ridges, subduction zones, and seamounts. Seismometers can be deployed on the seafloor or on ships to detect and record seismic waves. The data collected by seismometers is used to create maps of the ocean floor and to study the behavior of seismic waves in different geological structures.
