Sett Piling

Sett piling is a type of foundation used in maritime structures, such as piers and docks. It involves driving wooden or concrete piles into the seabed or riverbed, and then filling the gaps between the piles with large stones or concrete blocks, known as setts. The setts provide additional stability and support to the structure, and help to prevent erosion of the seabed or riverbed. Sett piling is a common method of foundation construction in areas with soft or unstable soil, as it distributes the weight of the structure over a larger area, reducing the risk of settlement or collapse. It is also a relatively inexpensive and quick method of construction, making it a popular choice for many maritime projects.
