Sheet

In maritime context, a sheet refers to a line or rope that controls the angle of a sail relative to the wind. The sheet is attached to the clew (lower corner) of the sail and is used to adjust the sail's position to optimize its performance. The sheet can be tightened or loosened to change the sail's angle and increase or decrease its power. The term 'sheet' is often used in combination with the name of the sail it controls, such as the mainsheet or jib sheet. Sheets are essential for sailing and are used to control the speed and direction of a vessel.
