Sight Edges

Sight edges refer to the upper edges of a ship's gunwale or rail that are used as a reference point for aiming naval guns. These edges are typically marked with paint or other materials to make them more visible. The sight edges are important for accurate targeting and firing of naval guns, as they provide a consistent reference point for gunners to aim at. In addition to their use in naval warfare, sight edges are also important for ceremonial purposes, such as firing salutes during national holidays or other special events.
