Signals

Signals are a means of communication used in the maritime industry to convey information between vessels, or between a vessel and shore. They can be visual, such as flags, lights, and shapes, or audible, such as horns and whistles. Signals are used to indicate a vessel's position, course, speed, and intentions, as well as to warn of danger or request assistance. The International Code of Signals (ICS) is a standardized system of signals used by ships and other maritime entities for communication. It consists of a set of flags, each representing a letter or number, and a set of standard phrases and messages. Signals play a crucial role in ensuring safe and efficient navigation at sea.
