Snub

In maritime context, snub refers to the act of stopping a vessel by taking a turn of the mooring line around a post or bollard and applying tension to it. This is done to prevent the vessel from drifting away from the dock or pier. Snubbing can also be used to slow down a vessel's speed by using the friction of the mooring line against the post or bollard. It is important to note that snubbing can put a lot of strain on the mooring line and the equipment used, so it should be done carefully and with proper precautions.
