Structural Members

Structural members are the load-bearing components of a ship's hull and superstructure. These members are designed to withstand the forces and stresses of the marine environment, including waves, wind, and cargo loads. Common types of structural members include frames, beams, girders, and plates. Frames are vertical members that run from the keel to the deck and provide the primary support for the hull. Beams and girders are horizontal members that support the deck and distribute the weight of the cargo. Plates are flat, thin sheets that are welded or bolted together to form the skin of the ship. The strength and integrity of these structural members are critical to the safety and performance of the vessel.
