Tsunamis

Tsunamis are large ocean waves that are generated by disturbances such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. These waves can travel across entire ocean basins and can cause significant damage and loss of life when they reach the shore. Tsunamis are different from normal ocean waves because they have much longer wavelengths and periods, which means they can travel much faster and with much greater energy. In the open ocean, tsunamis are often only a few centimeters high and can go unnoticed, but as they approach the shore, they can grow to be tens of meters high and can cause widespread destruction.
