Breakwater
A breakwater is a structure built in the water, usually perpendicular to the shoreline, to protect a harbor, anchorage, or marina from the effects of waves. It is designed to reduce the intensity of wave action in the area behind the structure, providing calm waters for vessels to dock and anchor. Breakwaters can be made of various materials such as concrete, rock, or steel, and can be either submerged or above water. They are typically constructed in areas where there is a high risk of wave damage to vessels or shorelines. Breakwaters can also be used to create artificial harbors or to protect natural harbors from sedimentation and erosion.
