Ventricular Fibrillation

Ventricular fibrillation is a life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia that occurs when the heart's ventricles contract in a rapid, unsynchronized way, preventing the heart from effectively pumping blood. This can lead to cardiac arrest and death within minutes if not treated promptly. Ventricular fibrillation is often caused by underlying heart disease, such as coronary artery disease, but can also be triggered by other factors such as electrolyte imbalances, drug toxicity, or trauma. Treatment for ventricular fibrillation typically involves immediate defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator (AED) or other advanced cardiac life support measures.
